THE WORLD TOILET DAY-KITUI COUNTY
The World Toilet day will be celebrated on the 19th November, 2017 in Kitui County. The Theme for this year’s World Toilet Day Celebration is “Wastewater.” In Kitui, waste water management remains a huge challenge. The opportunities from using wastewater as a resource are enormous. Safely managed wastewater is an affordable and sustainable source of not only water, but energy, nutrients and other recoverable materials.
The venue for the celebrations will be KISASI PRIMARY SCHOOL which is located in Kisasi Ward, Kitui Rural sub-county, Kitui. The sub-county has attained Open Defecation Free status and thus this will form part of the celebrations for the achievement.
The County Government of Kitui together with WASH partners including UNICEF, World Vision, Amref, Caritas and KIWASH together with the community of Kitui Rural will be in attend the occasion with more than 500 people expected for the event.
The celebrations will be presided over by Her Excellency the Governor of Kitui County Madam Charity Ngilu together with the CEC Ministry of Health and Sanitation. Notable activities include sub-county ODF celebrations, thematic entertainments and speeches from the dignitaries.
The celebration is implemented by the County Government of Kitui, WASH partners and the community of Kitui Rural sub-county.
