Thailand celebrates World Toilet Day on Friday 17th November 2017 at Wachirabenjathat Garden, Bangkok, Thailand with the same theme “Where does our poo go?”.
The event aims to raise awareness of the people and organizations involved about how important of waste from human are, increase collaboration with other organizations for public toilets services.
Fifteen Best Toilet of the Year 2016 Awards will be presented. These include toilets in 5 government offices, 2 health care facilities and academic places, and one in recreation area, tourist destination, petrol station, temple, community mall and restaurant.
Moreover, Certificate of Honor will be presented to five organizations providing public toilets and related facilities. The services, located around Grand Palace, Bangkok, provided for approximately 12 millions people who came to pay respect to the Late King Bhumibhol Adulyadej during October 2016-2017.
The event will be open and give statements by Deputy Minister of Public Health Dr. Thawat Suntrajarn; Director-General of Department of Health Dr.Wachira Penjuntr; Representative from Bangkok Metropolitant Administration and Mr Kritsana Lalai Chair of Universal Design Foundation.
Thailand planned to move forwards as follows:
Submit Master Plan regarding Toilet and Wastewater Management (2017-2026) to the Cabinet for approval;
Proposed draft regulation regarding wastewater management under the Public Health Act 1992;
Promote health literacy for good hygiene practices;
Promote universal access to toilet for all;
Support and encourage local authorities for safely disposal and use of wastewater.
