Greetings from Team Swachhalay!
Swachhalay supports and works with the United Nations’ & Union Government’s Sanitation campaigns to meet the Sustainable Development Goal 6 that focuses on improving public Sanitation, easing access to clean water & eliminating open defecation by improving public infrastructure through collective efforts. Our activities include ending the practice of open defecation by promoting the maintenance of existing public toilets, promoting the segregation of waste to minimize the disposal of garbage, water conservation in a bid to avoid the acute problem of drought faced across the globe, improving existing public infrastructure by awareness & cleanliness drive, and nevertheless mobilizing 21st century citizens to realize a world free from insanity & unhygienic conditions. Our activities are graciously supported and mentored by Mrs.Poonam Mahajan, Member Of Parliament for Mumbai-Nor
th Central. Our efforts have been recognized and appreciated by the Honorable Prime Minister Of India,Narendra Modi, President Of the United States Of America, Barack Obama and many more revered leaders!
Swachhalay & Global Citizen prioritise the lack of sanitation as a thriving issue; not many deem it a critical affair. The corollaries of lack of sanitation are many: diarrhea, diseases, pollution, death, infamy for being dirty, destruction of environment (sea, rivers, lakes), illiteracy (since many girls drop out during the early onset of menstruation) and loss of growth and productivity in the economy.
Hence, to realize a vision towards Swachh Bharat & practice the guiding principles of the Father Of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi that in order to attain this change, we need to be the change, A massive cleanliness drive shall be organised on 20th November following the historic Global Citizen Festival 2016 on 19th November. This cleanliness drive will not only clear the ground from the detritus created by heedless citizens, but will also promote the segregation of waste & the need to compost bio-degradable waste! The cleaning process will begin at 10 am and finish by 12 .30pm. The waste will be collected in 10 centers around the 22500 sq. mts, with protective equipments and refreshments being provided at the campus of the MMRDA Ground, BKC. The wet waste will be segregated and composted to generate electricity, while the dry waste shall be provided for recycling.
There’s only one step between you and your vision for a clean India now. What are you waiting for? Fill in the attached enrollment form.
Remember, the clock is ticking and the dustbins are waiting…..
Come be part of Swachhalay, be a part of a revolution. For you can recreate the world, the pen (or more appropriately, the broom) is in your hands. Let’s change the world, one clean sidewalk at a time…. #MyCleanIndia
