Microloans for sanitation and water, while gaining momentum as a powerful tool to ensure universal access, continue to face resistance from financial actors due to the perception that they are consumptive rather than income generating. Early research from Water.org highlights the financial gains that people are able to derive to some extent from having sanitation and/or water infrastructure at home.
