Day the World Portable SanitationWorking Group is campaigning to raise awareness of the benefits of portable sanitation solutions.
Portable toilets save water, while allowing adequate hygiene and privacy. The World Portable Sanitation Working Group estimates that 473.000.000 liters of water are saved per day around the world due to the fact that people use Portable toilets instead of “flush” toilets. On an annual basis, that equals over 170 BILLION liters of water saved. There are approximately more than 3 millions of portable toilets around the world.
Portable sanitation solutions are important! They can provide timely responses and save lives in emergencies. After a natural disaster (earthquake, floods, typhoons, tornados, etc.) sanitation networks commonly brake down. Without sanitation solutions, the risk of water contamination and spread of disease is high, especially in emergency situations. Portable sanitation solutions meet can quickly and affordably meet emergency needs.
There is 7 associations (see below) and some working groups around the world that are working in order to raise awareness of the importance of portable sanitation.
