The Ambang Botanic housing development township has been enduring the pain, embarrassment, and inconvenience of a non-working sewage system for the past 7 years ever since the first batch of residents moved in. While the authorities and developers are working to find a solution, the residents have been made to endure the process of what seems to be a never ending blame game and tossing the hot potato among the developer, the technology provider, the operator, and the authorities.

In conjunction with this year’s World Toilet Day, the residents will hold a peaceful assembly and walk to express our frustration and that #WeCantWait for a working sewage system. As a result of the failing system, sewage is overflowing onto the roads, and backflowing into the houses, which is not very far from the situation of open defecation and open sewage contamination faced by many societies today. Many residents have been denied the basic right to the accessibility of a working toilet infrastructure, and we want the relevant parties to attend to this problem seriously and speedily.

By joining the World Toilet Day movement, we hope that the rest of the world too will join us in our struggle for a working toilet system in Ambang Botanic.
